Ads

Somewhere for the annoying and/or off-topic threads to go. Feel free to post about whatever, but abuse will still be dealt with, and possibly with more force. Especially pac-porno. ;)

that does suck, we can't control what google gives us. but it's not really a request, it's an advertisement for people who want to give money to criminals.

This has been mentioned a fair few times on the MAME forums too - Google controls what ads are displayed. It is to Google that you should be complaining (click the "Ads by Google" link).

Yeah, that mangled PSA one is pretty funny :) I could never get it to come up when I wanted to copy the text or take a screenshot. Except on this reply, naturally.

It bothers me a little that people get away with selling ROM discs via Google ads. I'd email them (Google) about it, but I'm just too lazy.

As a side note, clicking on PSAs doesn't count towards clicks for ad income. Nor is there a set amount per click, they do some funky calculations and spit out a price. Like 6 clicks one day can get $6.57, and 7 clicks another day can get $0.50 - it's weird. Depends on the ads, maybe, and other stuff. Now, you don't have to go crazy clicking ads all day long - I'm sure that would end up being counterproductive. Probably wouldn't hurt to click on one once every day or two, though. Remember, everything will be going towards hosting costs! (I'll make a page with the marpirc.net supporters soon, now that I have permission from almost all of them to be listed).

you can get them blocked, we've eventually managed to get them blocked

(the guy running them then registered to create an account on the boards, and called us all 12 year kids with no business sense because we didn't want his ads)

so yeah, whoever agreed the deal with google should be able to get the specific ads blocked based on them having unsuitable (clearly illegal) content for sale.

Would this be a per-site blocking, or did Google go and block those ads for illegal things everywhere? Hopefully so, so I don't have to deal with it ;)

I'm not surprised at the guy's response.

Thanks man!
...Now could you pull BBH below TJT too?

Confirmed your Tunnel Hunt score, feel dizzy now...
Playsback without nvram and frameskip 1.
Great play!
You get an extra at 100k and one before that. Even if you have shield power used, you can avoid ship(and fire?) by ducking into corner. That tactic heats your ship hull.

Also very nice play Timmykins at Tail Gunner, with joystick?

per customer i think .. they seem to be blocked across ztnet because lev requested them to be blocked.. but afaik marpirc is another non ztnet server so they won't be blocked.. I just saw one on here a minute ago.

why google don't just remove them from circulation I don't understand, they are clearly selling illegal material and it doesn't do google's reputation one bit of good..

Shitty. And yeah, marpirc.net isn't on ztnet. I guess if I see an ad for some page selling ROMs again, I'll email Google about it and get them removed. It's rather stupid that they accept it at all for something illegal. Especially after people already complaining about it.
