Reward: $50 (usd)

Deadline for submission to MARP: July 29, 2005 2359 hours GMT

Further Bounty: none

Another unique, if somewhat primitive game.

MARP doesn't have a rule against trapping the Sparx, so we'll allow it. If anybody gets too good we'll use the usual one hour rule.

Page devoted to the game is here:

Gamefaq is here.

Use WolfMAME .98

Man, I don't remember Qix playing this fast. I think the emulation has speed this up greatly.

Hmmmm......A possible problem

Post by lippsman »

I can't play back KOZA's inp. And I couldn't play back my inp either. Maybe something about having to hit F3 when the game starts?

Doesn't play for me either.

Remember, you have to start these Taito games by hitting F1 five times.

You can do it by hitting F5 once, but that doesn't get recorded.

Works fine for me with sound, but you are welcome to record without sound if you find it necessary.

F3

Post by lippsman »

When the menu comes up with language selection I hit F3, then the game starts. You think this could be the problem.

Thanks

Yes, because F3 (reset game) isn't recorded to inp file.

The trap

Post by lippsman »

I see Don has used the spark trap. I on purpose didn't do this because I thought it would not be allowed. I believe it would kind of take the spirit of things out. Take a look Weehawk. You make the call.

Damn

Post by lippsman »

Was the mention of the Sparx trap being allowed always there? Damn I didn't see it. You would think a 21.3 inch screen would be big enough for me to see that.

I don't see why 'spark trap' should be banned. It's normal play, no trick.

Yep

Post by lippsman »

You keep a danger in the game from happening. Yes that is not in the spirit of things. You are keeping about 66% of the enemies trapped from killing you.

Kind of like leetching the first level of a football game for as long as you want to. Ooops. There I go.

What if you could stop the fireballs in Donkey Kong as soon as the level started. Or take away two of the ghost in Pac-Man.

Just what I think that's all. What the hell do I know, I don't think you should be able to play the 1st or 2nd level of Time Pilot forever but you can in the Deca 2005 but you can't in other games.

Go figure.
