It doesn't appear to cost him a life, though.

That was a theory on how the 255 life bug might work...if somehow you could lose your last life and have it replayed, losing it again.

Still might work if you actually lost a life and had it replayed, but we haven't seen an example of that yet. (Koza finished the level successfully, only appearing to get killed in the replay.)

It would be funny if I hadn't finished the level and the replay would show I did...

But the rumour says that thanks to the bug you are granted 255 lives so I think that's no it

But if there is a way to get 255 lives, it's almost certainly from a double-subtraction. If a computer register stores 00000000 and you subtract 1 from it, the result will be 111111. If the program is only expecting a positive number, it will read that as 255(base10)

This is seen in Sinistar. If you can manage to get shot while the Sinistar is eating your last ship, you lose it twice, and the game then thinks you have 255 ships.

Likewise in Mr Do, where you need to get eaten by the last monster and then also get yourself and the onster crushed by an apple, thereby completing the stage but with a double delete of lives..... was a very nice way of getting some extended play back in the good old days in the 'cades.... :)

I've seen/done this one but never seen/done the Sinistar one....

Hmmm.... maybe in FF we should try to get caught by a chef and get hit by food at the same time... but we don't know if that will substract two lives...

This hunt for the bug is getting pretty interesting..

And I also wonder how's the rest doing... they're propably waiting until friday to send their wonderful inps

I watch inp with bug (from Koza) and I think that this theory about subtraction of lives is wrong.

It's a good theory, and there is an explanation there of why we are seeing the difference in Koza's replay on level 9. The spread of the peas when thrown has a random element to it and may be different on replay. When Koza starts level 9 he has peas in hand. The first thing he does is hit one of the chefs with them. On the replay, the peas miss that chef and the chef stays in play. After that, Koza makes the same moves he did when he actually played, but the chefs are in different positions, and he gets killed.

Koza's replay does hurt the theory in that he doesn't seem to get a life subtracted when he dies on the replay, but perhaps this is not always the case.

Koza also suggests a good idea about getting caught by a chef and hit by food at the same time. It's a possibility as well.

Results:
1st destructor@HotTeam.pl
2nd: KOZA

KOZA takes 2nd and all 6 bonus for a total of 13.

No one bother to submit for third.

I'm shocked there wasn't more interest in this one. I had fun playing it myself.

I would have played if 8-way control wasn't so crappy, and I can't do jack with a mouse.
