So when WinXP64 is released (which will be quite soon I hope) it won't be long before the 64bit version of Mame sees daylight?

Thanks for the solution Buttermaker. I have done what you suggested and put the scanlines at 25%. I now have a much better image, much closer to the old arcade feel.
