Re: Updating the MARP site
The actual basic look of the website is good. Please don't ever change that. We don't need rounded buttons and silly animations on every action.

Re: Crap Tournament 9
oops i didn't see that. i found a newer plump pop set and it works fine. the actual dipswitch settings are the same in both versions, all off. i'm thinking 106 just had a typo, but i can't actually get to 50k and 70k to check :V weird. 106 claims there are missing files in the butasan you gave me. i...

Re: Crap Tournament 9
thanks for running this! glad to finally be here. your plump pop is missing a file for 0.185, but does work in 0.106. then your butasan doesn't read in 0.106, when it reads fine in 0.185. all other roms read in both versions, though i doubt oriental legend works at all in 0.106. time limit is WAY to...

Re: Vaz - dsaber -32040
On topic since it's another Namco game, I'm curious if different publishers put different recommended settings in the manual. Sometimes that happens, especially with US export releases. I figure most of these later Namco games just translate the original and ship that, but who knows with certain tit...

Re: Pacmania question
I am 100% in agreement with you, and am only trying (and obviously failing) to clarify the situation for PP. I'm also pretty sure Namco got this right, barring some mysterious Pac-Mania-exclusive bug. I'm not sure why only B and C are being considered here, when A and D should also be checked. edit:...

Re: Pacmania question
Again, it needs to be understood that Pac-Mania uses soft dips, from which defaults can be reached by a button press. Arcade standards dictate that there are four difficulties and the second of these is the default, which the B of Pac-Mania's ABCD most definitely is. Sometimes this is blown up to ei...

Re: This is why the MAME emulation of Kangaroo is inaccurate
I'm sure it's been mentioned plenty of times before - the number of drivers in MAME does not slow down MAME. That being said, Micko is working on a new build system for MAME, and hopefully it will be easier to leave out mechanical games when compiling. When that happens, I'm happy to leave them out...

Darius Gaiden Extra Version (dariusgx) modes
http://replay.marpirc.net/r/dariusgx Forgot about this. This romset has two different modes depending on which player side you start the game on: player 1 gives you reshuffled level order with branching paths, while player 2 gives you every single stage of the original level order. Definitely needs ...

Gladiator 1984 (sgladiat) opponents
http://replay.marpirc.net/r/sgladiat Older versions of MAME normally do not have the opponent horses. The opponents being missing had been noted when the game was dumped back in 2005, when it was believed to be a bug in the emulator. With v0.127u1, it was found to be a dipswitch issue; the "No ...

Re: Bermuda Triangle
The dips in this one are a real mess. First off, MAME doesn't use all off by default for any set. None of the sets have Coin 2 maxed out as all off would be, while Version 2 removed the timed game settings and made no continues all off. Then: -otokaru claims there are no known factory settings for w...

Re: WORLD HEROES problems with 1st position
I question why MAME is (sensibly) using an older version as the parent when they seem very adamant about using whatever the latest version they can find is. Even if wh1h is for a "home console", the AES is not a home console at all and it should be treated as an "update", never m...

Re: Raiden DX splits
Apparently Novice/Bravo just ends after you beat it once; thought you could loop it for some reason. Advanced/Charlie loops forever no matter what. Training/Alpha normally ends after beating it as well, but if you destroy 99% of enemies, get every single radar (bonus sol tower-like things), and use ...

Re: Problem with Ghouls'n Ghosts (ghouls)
Sounds about right. You'd think most games would just have all dips off, then some localizer comes in and starts flipping switches to try and weasel more coins out of people... Apparently, some games were always factory default to have some dips on. At least Tiger-Heli does this; all dips off is the...
