Re: IMPORTANT - MARP hosting expiring in a couple of days (Apr 2025)

I would contact Wes he said before .. He would do something or build another site I don't have anything to do with the coding of MARP, that's Zwaxy's code. Whether or not he's actively maintaining it or not, I don't know. Either way, that would be up to him or the other mods on MARP for any code ch...

Re: IMPORTANT - MARP hosting expiring in a couple of days (Apr 2025)

Another user suggested setting up a GoFundMe for MARP hosting, it never even crossed my mind to do that. Not sure how it works exactly, but here's where you can go to help out (especially since I think the Dreamhost donation link is broken): https://www.gofundme.com/f/mame-action-replay-page-marp-ho...

MARP hosting - GOAL REACHED (Updated 2025-04-23)

I received notice this week that the hosting for MARP expires in a few days. I don't have the resources to renew it myself, it would be I think $417 for another 5 years. I can double check when I'm home. If not renewed, I'll see about backing up all of the files hosted here and provide them to Barry...

Re: Database problem

Going from Python 2.x to 3.x could be the main issue here, I seem to remember they are not all that compatible with each other. Seems python 2 is still there, they just updated the versions of both 2 and 3. It's possible a slight change broke something though. The bigger issue may be the update to ...

Re: Database problem

I'm not familiar with his code at all, a few things seem to have been changed around the time the site stopped working, such as maybe pythonlib/ and pythonlib.old. The whole instance actually was moved to a new shared server, it seems. With an OS update, so something there may have been broken. I do...

Re: Database problem

If it can't find MySQL, then it seems like a server issue. Not much can be done. Is Dooglus still active around here? Something might have changed on one of Dreamhost's updates, could be a simple fix somewhere. If not, if you know his login you can let me know and I can look (or you can) - I don't ...

I had no idea it was broken! If someone contacted me about it, it must have gotten lost in spam.

Hopefully working again!

This morning I updated the forums to the latest version of phpBB - hopefully that fixes any issues that have popped up.

Re: MARP hosting - UPDATE 2020-03-14

Sorry Rax, work weeks are busy! Looks like there is enough there now for the next five years of hosting! Thanks everyone, glad you'll get to enjoy MARP for a long time to come.

Re: MARP hosting - UPDATE 2020-03-14

Looks like there's a donation fee, because of PayPal's crazy fees I'd imagine. I think that most of the cost is covered now, another $30-ish should cover the rest plus any other donation fees. Thanks to all that helped out!

Re: Emulating other systems?

I enjoy having a frontend that's controller... controlled :) And looks nice. Retroarch isn't necessarily the nicest looking or with the best controls (hope you dont hit left/right while scrolling through a big list, or want to quickly search), but it's a nice option. At least there are others that l...

Emulating other systems?

I'm sure that many of you play other systems besides MAME, the classics like nes/gb/sega/snes/etc, on to more obscure ones. I've always been into emulation, and it's just so easy these days compared to 20+ years ago between the hardware and software available. Fond memories of Nesticle back in the d...

Re: MARP hosting - UPDATE 2020-03-14

The last time a third party had paid for the hosting, there was something in place to easily donate directly towards hosting costs on Dreamhost. I can't find where that is at the moment but I'm sure it's there somewhere. Seems it at one time was linked directly from the Dreamhost control panel, but...

Re: MARP hosting - UPDATE 2020-03-14

Apologies guys, emails from the forums here seem to get lost in my spam folders at best and I didn't see that I had a PM or replies to this post. And yes Weehawk, the main issue is just cost of maintaining the site. Though I should be more diligent about keeping the software updated as well. * check...
