In the mame folder, there are additonally two batch files that run the program with the -record and -playback parameters included. Any recordings made with record.bat name the resulting input file null.inp, or ".inp", and playback.bat can only read the file named null.inp in the inp folde...

I'm not sure why you're having so much problems with .inp naming. I just did a test with wolfmame145 and nibbler. All I typed from the command line (in the wolfmame145 directory) was "record nibbler nibbler". It played nibbler and named the inp file nibbler.inp (and recorded it in the INP ...

They should be left zipped, in the Samples directory. Make sure MAME is looking in the right place for your samples. Go to Options->Directories and check there. I grabbed that zip file right out of the Samples directory and it works on mine.

Sorry, I was waiting to see if there were any objections :) I'll post it here, if there are objections, either a mod or I can delete them. I think they used to be hosted at one of the MAME sites (not a ROM site), so I don't see why it should be a problem.

Maybe he hit F3 to get past the test screen? That wouldn't be captured in the input stream, making the INP unplaybackable (is that a word? :mrgreen:)

It played back ok for me on Vista, to the correct score and initials, even using speed throttling to go thru it quickly.

Shoot, now that I'm out, one of my favorite games comes up and I'd probably do decently on it, since I can 1CC it...oh well. I may play along just for the fun of it :mrgreen:

I see another new one for ckong by Jason Nugent. He actually submitted it to both ckong and ckongpt2, using wolfmame106. Since the current ckong wasn't available in 106, I assume that one is invalid (and the other one should be ok)

Figures...now that I'm out, you pick something I'd actually enjoy playing :roll: You're not quite out yet, you are in the Continue bracket with me and gurk, which means if you get I think, top 7 in continue bracket, you go on in the competition. I suck at DK, don't know how good Gurk is though, but...

I'm out...I tried a couple practice games in 106 (couldn't get it to work in 140), and didn't even get a single hit in. Now I remember why I hated these games so much when they came out in the arcade BITD.
